Saturday Morning in the Bronx
My dear friend Charlie has had a rough couple of weeks. Illness, hospital stay, missing family time and disappointment in not being able to help others. I stopped to see him and felt his despair. One of his many services to others includes driving. To pick up donations for Haiti, taking religious to the airport or doctors appointments or the monthly food delivery for the friaries and convents. He does so much! Pick ups- Thank You!
Matt joined me today to help pick up from 2 of our "regular" parishes. First we went to Sacred Heart in Merrick. Ann, Kathy and Katie were in today and it was lovely to see thier smiling faces. Sacred Heart is alway very generous. Next we made our way to St. Ignatius of Loyola in Hicksville. MaryAnn had a shopping cart full of food for us. She was moved by the pictures of Haiti. Begging Letters
Its been a fewcweeks since I have been able to help. I have been traveling or recuperating. Finally got to drive today after 6 weeks. Charlie can relate! One of the first things I did? Go to Charlie's. Dennis, Charlie and I worked on "begging" letters. Charlie writes the letters and Dennis and I got them ready for mailing. Here are the 3 types we worked on today: 1) We mailed letters to 70 Parish Outreach programs explaining the Haiti Mission and requesting thier expired food
